About

Marius Burkert studied conducting in his hometown Vienna. After the first engagement at the Graz Opera, he moved to the State Opera in Hannover, and since 2007/08 he is again committed to the Graz Opera. Here he conducted the premieres of "The Bat", "Gasparone", "The Bird Trader", "The Merry Widow", "My Fair Lady", "Gigi", "The Sound of Music" and "The Opera Ball" and headed further Lohengrin, Manon, Hansel and Gretel, Tosca and Turandot.

In 2016/17 he conducts the premiere of the new production of "The Circus Princess", the resumption of "La Traviata", as well as repertoire performances of "Roméo et Juliette" and "La Rondine".
He has performed at the Vienna Chamber Opera ("Zaide"), at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe ("Hansel and Gretel"), at the Vienna Volksoper ("The Merry Widow", "Boccaccio"), in Klagenfurt ("Les Misérables", "Der Gypsy Baron "), Taipei (" Giselle ") and Bolzano (" The Bat "). Since 2004 he conducts every year at the Lehár Festival Bad Ischl (including "The beggar student", "The Gypsy Baron", "Viennese blood", "The fidele peasant", "The Csárdásfürstin", "Paganini", "The Land of Smiles", "In the White Horse Inn", "The Count of Luxembourg", Leo Falls "The Empress", Nico Dostal's "The Hungarian Wedding" and the Lehar rarities "Gypsy Love" and "Where the lark sings"). As a concert conductor, he led orchestras such as: RSO Vienna, Tonkünstler-Orchester Niederösterreich, Orchestra of the Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania, Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana in Palermo, Latvian National Orchestra Riga.
