Before beginning her vocal studies, BRYONY DWYER, originally from Tasmania, was a longtime member of the Royal Australian Navy.
During her vocal studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, she took on roles such as Governess (The Turn of the Screw) and Fuchs (The Cunning Little Vixen) at the Sydney Chamber Opera. In Tasmania, she has worked with the Tasmanian Chamber Orchestra, singing the role of Belinda in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. Upon completing her studies, the soprano’s career led her straight to the Vienna State Opera: firstly, on a scholarship from Opera Foundation Australia and then from 2013/2014 as a permanent member of the ensemble. Here, she has sung the roles of Giannetta, Barbarina, Papagena and Jouvenot. She made her debut performance at Cologne Opera in 2015 as Ännchen; in 2015/2016 she appeared as a member of the opera studio Oper Avenir at the Basel Theatre, where she sang the roles of Susanna (Chowanschtschina), Juliette and First Lady and Morgana.
