Rather than depicting battles literally, Edwaard Liang explores strategy, discipline, balance, resilience, and the psychological tension between conflict and harmony. Set to Michael Torke's energetic and rhythmically driven score, the ballet combines dynamic athleticism with refined classical technique. Sweeping ensemble formations, intricate partnering, and movements inspired by the flowing lines of Chinese calligraphy create a visually striking work that reflects both physical strength and inner control.
