Ravinia Festival 2026

The Ravinia Festival 2026 returns to Highland Park, Illinois, as North America’s oldest outdoor music festival and one of its most vibrant summer cultural destinations. From June through September, the historic park transforms into an open-air stage where orchestral tradition, contemporary artistry, jazz, pop, and experimental collaborations meet under the summer sky. The season also marks the continued evolution of the newly redesigned Hunter Pavilion, elevating the listening experience for audiences and artists alike.

Overview

James Conlon returns with a tale of love’s unimpeached loyalty winning out over fame and gain. Mozart built his theater legacy from this comic opera, not long before Figaro, subverting political dunks in giving each man a hapless streak and showing women as agents of constancy.

Best known for her peerless performances as Mozart’s stratospheric Queen of the Night—a role she executes “better than anyone alive” according to The New Yorker—soprano Kathryn Lewek brings her signature vocal brilliance to the role of Constanze. Joining her is tenor Miles Mykkanen, praised as “a discovery… a singer of vast power and lyricism, whose dramatic abilities match his fine vocal apparatus” (Opera Today) as Belmonte. Together, the pair embody the steadfast devotion at the heart of Mozart’s work, navigating high-stakes peril and enduring love with soaring musical skill and radiant lyricism.

Harry Silverstein directs the production, with scene-stopping songs in German and action told in English. The cast also includes Sarah Dufresne as Blonde, Brenton Ryan as Pedrillo, and Morris Robinson as Osmin. Together, this exceptional ensemble breathes life into one of Mozart’s most effervescent and timeless operas.

Venue Info

Martin Theatre - Highland Park
Location   Park and Green Bay Road

Just inside the festival’s main gate and steps from the train, the historic Martin Theatre is the only building that remains from the original construction of Ravinia, which opened in 1904. Beautifully restored in 1992, the 850-seat concert hall is home to stunning performances by the world’s finest chamber ensembles and vocal and instrumental soloists.

Located within the historic grounds of Ravinia Park, the Martin Theatre is one of the intimate indoor venues of the renowned Ravinia Festival. Offering a more personal concert experience, the theatre provides an elegant setting where audiences can connect closely with performers and appreciate the finest details of musical interpretation.

The Martin Theatre is particularly valued for chamber music, solo recitals, vocal performances, and smaller-scale presentations. Its intimate atmosphere and excellent acoustics create a setting where every nuance of the performance can be experienced with exceptional clarity, allowing musicians and audiences to share a direct and engaging artistic dialogue.

As part of Ravinia’s diverse summer season, the venue reflects the festival’s commitment to presenting music in many different forms — from classical masterpieces and emerging artists to innovative programmes that expand traditional concert experiences. The theatre’s smaller scale complements the grandeur of Ravinia’s larger outdoor stages, adding variety and depth to the festival’s artistic landscape.

Surrounded by the historic charm of Ravinia Park, the Martin Theatre offers visitors an opportunity to experience music in a relaxed and refined environment. The combination of beautiful surroundings, outstanding acoustics, and the festival’s celebrated artistic tradition makes each performance especially memorable.
