Overview

Join the Halcyon Quartet’s autumn return for an evening of Haydn’s playful ‘Joke’ Quartet, Florence Price’s vibrant folk-inspired counterpoint, and Korngold’s sweeping Romantic finale. A tapestry of wit, soulful discovery, and cinematic richness awaits. This autumn at Conway Hall, the Halcyon Quartet returns with a programme that journeys from playful Classical wit to lush Romantic sweep. Opening with Haydn’s mischievous ‘Joke’ Quartet, they invite audiences into a world of sparkling interplay and unexpected pauses. Next, Florence Price’s folksong-inspired counterpoint unfolds, revealing a still-underappreciated American voice brimming with lyrical warmth and intricate harmony. The evening culminates in Korngold’s Second Quartet, where cinematic expanses and rich, Romantic textures envelop the hall in a grand, expressive finale. Through their nuanced artistry and deep musical rapport, these four musicians bring out the timeless charm and emotional depth of each work.
