Overview

We invite you to a special evening of ballet, featuring two works that combine the expressiveness of music, the grace of dance, and the power of stage presence.

F. Chopin's "Chopiniana" is a graceful and poetic one-act ballet in which music becomes the language of movement. Lyricism, romance, and the subtle beauty of the choreography create an atmosphere of lightness and dreaminess.

A. Borodin's "Polovtsian Dances" is a vibrant musical and choreographic picture, filled with passion, dynamism, and powerful energy. Spectators will enjoy expressive dances, colorful images, and a captivating stage composition.

The two works—two completely different worlds united by the power of music and the magic of ballet.

Treat yourself to an evening filled with the beauty of movement, music, and genuine emotion.

Chopiniana, staged by Fokine, had a different musical composition. Also, Chopiniana was originally a compilation of dramatic or character dances set to Chopin's piano music. The Glazunov suite upon which this original version was based had only four Chopin pieces; Fokine wanted to use a waltz as an addition to the suite and was able to get Glazunov to orchestrate this to create his ballet, also called Chopiniana.

“Polovtsian Dances” is one of the most spectacular and vibrant scenes from Alexander Borodin’s opera Prince Igor. Famous for its sweeping melodies and dynamic rhythms, the piece combines powerful choral passages with energetic orchestration, creating an atmosphere of passion and восточная exoticism.

“Polovtsian Dances” from the opera Prince Igor is a monumental choral and orchestral scene that has become one of the most recognisable works in the classical repertoire. Composed by Alexander Borodin in the late 19th century, this powerful музыкальный эпизод captures the grandeur and intensity of the Polovtsian camp.

The music alternates between lyrical, flowing themes and vigorous, rhythmically charged dances. Rich orchestration, dramatic choral writing and expressive melodic lines create a vivid musical panorama filled with colour and movement. The contrast between tender, almost hypnotic passages and explosive, triumphant climaxes gives the work its unforgettable impact.

Whether performed in its full operatic context or as a concert piece, “Polovtsian Dances” remains a thrilling celebration of orchestral brilliance, choral power and dramatic storytelling.
