Teatro Santander gathers state-of-the elements of the international cultural scene. In Brazil, modern concert halls have, separately, cutting-edge technical features. Teatro Santander has them all in the same place.
The Santander Theatre opened its curtains in 2016, aiming to be a multifunctional, modern, sophisticated, and innovative space. It is the first venue in Brazil to feature an automatic seat retraction system and automated stage rigging, allowing for changes to the ambiance in a matter of minutes.
The facade incorporates 60,000 glowing glass blocks brought from the Czech Republic and computer-controlled LED lighting. It was designed by Edo Rocha, the renowned architect responsible for the architectural design of the Allianz Parque stadium. The building was developed as a musical instrument. Some angles show an interpretation of acoustics and the space works with amplified and non-amplified sounds.
The Santander Theater stage has hosted musicals such as: We Will Rock You, My Fair Lady , Alegria, Alegria , Singing in the Rain , If My Apartment Could Talk , The Little Mermaid , Annie: The Musical , Sunset Boulevard , School of Rock , Monica's Gang , The Sound and the Syllable , Donna Summer , Chicago , Wicked , Pretty Woman and Tarsila, the Brazilian , in addition to Elvis – A Musical Revolution , currently playing.
The Santander Theatre has also hosted numerous shows, dance performances, and classical and popular concerts, as well as important corporate events, fashion shows, dinners, company awards ceremonies, seminars, and workshops. Thanks to its versatility and technology, the space is prepared to accommodate any type of event without requiring any changes to its configuration. The venue offers accessibility for convenience and necessary mobility.
